About the artwork

Unfolding Being is a interactive digital artwork, created through a collaboration between artist Stefan Venbroek and software developer Vadim Lobanov. Together they developed custom-made software. Venbroek selected portrait fragments from more than 1500 of his drawings and paintings. These fragments, color fields and moving structures, are continuously recombined by the software into unique compositions, resulting in an endless variety of outcomes. Thanks to a sensor that detects hand movements, the work is interactive. The viewer can control and influence the portrait, creating a captivating interplay between art, technology, and human interaction.
